Can I check out a book if I'm not a DMU student or staff?

Answer

There are a couple of ways we can get you access to the book you’re looking for. You need to be a DMU student to check the book out from our library. However, if you’re in the Des Moines area, you are welcome to come to our library in person and use the book here. We have a scanner available to the public if you’d like to scan pages to email yourself or save to a USB drive.

If you’re not in the Des Moines area, you can visit your local public library and ask the librarian to request the book from us through Interlibrary Loan. We can send the book directly to your local library to check out to you. We will need to make sure the book you’re looking for is not on reserve. We need to keep those books in our library for our students, but we can send a scanned chapter or two to your local library through Interlibrary Loan.
