Interlibrary Loan for External Users
Would you be able to locate and loan articles for users or institutions outside of Des Moines University?
Answer
DMU is not able to loan out any kind of materials to external individuals or institutions outside of the interlibrary loan programs through Docline or OCLC.
We do have public access computers on campus, so if you are able to come to campus you could use any of these computers to lookup your article and then save it to a flash drive or email it to yourself. Librarians are available between the hours of 8am-4:30pm, so if you wish to come in person simply check in at the Visitor’s Office at the north entrance of the Academic Center (parking is available for the public in the North parking lot) and the visitor staff will contact the library staff, and someone can come down to escort you to the library public computers.
If you are not local, another potential option might be to obtain a library card from a public library and ask them to send an OCLC interlibrary loan request to us on your behalf. We loan for free to Iowa Public Libraries, so there should be no charge involved.
